How Do I Donate A Truck to Charity?
STEP 1: Call
Call (888)-228-7320 or fill out the simple truck donation form above. A quick call puts you in touch with one of our truck donation experts. You’ll answer a few quick questions, and in less time than it takes you to hose off those mud flaps, we’ll schedule a time that’s convenient for you to pick up your truck for free.
Step 2: Get your truck ready for free transportation
On the day of towing, be sure that you’ve already removed every personal possession you have from your truck. Also, have your title ready, since it’s part of the requirement in our truck donation program. In case you’ve lost or misplaced it, just let us know so we can assist you in obtaining a duplicate copy.
STEP 3. Get Your Truck Donation Tax Deduction
Within 30 days of sale, we will send you IRS Form 1098-C showing the exact sale price which you can give to your accountant in order to deduct the value of your donation.
Commercial Truck Donations
As a business owner, you know a thing or two about how little a commercial truck can be sold for after completing its “tour of duty”. What you may not have considered, however, is how beneficial a commercial truck donation could be for your business.
Beyond the obvious, direct financial benefits that you receive when you donate commercial trucks, there are several other positive factors involved with this type of charitable contribution. Businesses strive to be seen in a positive light by their potential clients. When you donate a commercial truck, you have the opportunity to announce your donation to the public. Nothing provides a more beneficial referral than charitable contributions, and given the fact that the deductible full market value on commercial truck donations is usually much higher than a possible sale price, donating old fleet vehicles is the perfect option for most business owners.
Tax Deductions for your Truck
When it comes to tax advantages, businesses are always looking for deductions. Commercial truck donations are great ways to increase the total amount of deductions for your business. By donating, you can share your passion for change and draw attention to what you consider important. In return, you receive a maximized tax deduction, and the comfort of knowing your donation sparked change.
Truck donations made to a charitable nonprofit organization are tax-deductible. The best practice is to consult with a tax professional on how to maximize your tax deduction since every situation is unique.
In general, the IRS limits the tax deduction to the gross proceeds from the sale of the truck. Charitable contributions must be itemized on Schedule A of Form 1040 to qualify. If the total deduction claimed on the tax return exceeds $500, Form 8283 “Non-cash Charitable Contributions” must also be completed and attached.
We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give..
Cars with Causes was started as a funding project for Giving Center (EIN# 92-1162407), an IRS-approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that operates nationwide. Giving Center was created to help bridge the gap between those in the community who have the means and wish to help, with those who are in dire need of a helping hand and a little grace. We have a team of professional transporters and in house volunteers with both the technical and legal experience to assist you in the donation of any type vehicle.
