Class C donation
Donate a Class C motorhome that the family outgrew or stopped using
Class C coaches are the family RV, and they come to us when the family stops being the size it was. They sit on a Ford or Chevy chassis that any shop can work on, which keeps the buyer pool wide and the sale reliable.
Where donated Class C coaches come from
Families whose children grew up. A Class C bought for a decade of summer trips has a very clear end date, and afterward it is a large vehicle nobody needs.
Retirees moving to a smaller coach or out of travel altogether. Those are frequently low-mileage and well maintained.
Estates and former rental units. Rental Class Cs come with high mileage and hard use but they were serviced on a schedule, which some buyers prefer to a coach that sat for five years.
Driven when it runs
A running registered Class C is driven, which is far cheaper than hauling. We arrange the driver and the insurance.
A dead Class C tows more easily than a Class A because it is lighter and shorter, so the numbers hold up better on a non-runner. Tell us whether it starts, rolls, steers and stops.
Empty the tanks and remove your property. Leave the appliances, the generator and the furniture. Tell us about the cab-over bunk area specifically, because that is where Class C roofs leak first.
What decides what a Class C brings
- Cab-over and roof condition. The front cap over the cab is the number-one leak point on a Class C. Soft spots there are a significant deduction.
- Length and layout. The 24 to 32-foot range with a bunkhouse or a rear bed is the volume market.
- Chassis and engine. Ford E-450 with the V10, or Chevrolet 4500. Both are serviceable anywhere, which is much of why these sell.
- Mileage and generator hours. Both, and whether the generator starts and takes load.
- Slide-outs and awning. Whether each slide operates and whether the awning extends and retracts.

The paperwork, and what you can deduct
A motorhome is a titled vehicle and the title has to transfer. If it is lost, most states have a duplicate process and the state title rules page walks through yours. If there is a loan against it we need the lien release; we cannot transfer a coach the lender still holds.
Giving Center sells the coach and your deduction is the gross sale proceeds on Form 1098-C. A running Class C in sound condition usually clears $5,000, which brings the IRS qualified appraisal requirement and Form 8283 Section B, at your expense and by your choice. A high-mileage older coach with a soft cab-over can land between $500 and $5,000, where Section A applies with no appraisal.
An older coach with serious water damage, a dead engine and a long tow can come in under $500, where the deduction is the lesser of fair market value or $500 with a written acknowledgment rather than a 1098-C. We will tell you if that is where yours sits.
Class C motorhome donation questions
The cab-over bunk area is soft. How bad is that?
It is the most common serious fault in this category and it does lower the sale, because repairing a front cap is real work. It does not stop the donation. Photograph it.
It was a rental with 140,000 miles.
Still saleable. Rental coaches were serviced on a schedule, and some buyers prefer high miles with records to low miles with five years of sitting.
Will you take one that does not run?
Often. A Class C is lighter and shorter than a Class A, so towing is more affordable and the math works more often. Tell us the location.
Do I need to fix the generator?
No. Tell us whether it starts and takes load. A dead generator lowers the price and nothing more.
Should I empty the tanks?
Yes, please, both grey and black. It is a health and transport issue and the cleanup cost otherwise comes out of what the cause receives.
